Priest – Shadow and Holy Powers

Some people that play World of Warcraft consider priests as the best healing class. Priests however, can also deal nice amounts of damage as well. When you decide to play with the priest class you can choose between several races. If you role horde the choice of races when it comes to the Priest class will fall on Trolls, Undead and Blood Elves. On the Alliance side you can pick either a Dwarf, Human, Draenei or Night Elf priest. Depending on the race you choose you will have different passive abilities but the choice will surely depend on you and your game play.
A Priest is a genuine mana consumer whether he chooses to play a healer or a dps caster and therefore he will need a lot of spirit which will help him regenerate mana much faster, intellect which will give him a greater amount of mana and of course, a lot of spell power. The priest has three talent trees and depending on what kind of priest you want to make you can choose between the Shadow, Discipline and Holy talent trees. The First talent tree I would like to discuss is the Holy talent tree which is designed for priests with a PvE healing aspiration. When you choose to be a Holy Priest you can almost forget about dealing damage but you will however become an awesome healer for single and multiple targets with several spells like Circle of Healing. Guardian Spirit, Prayer of Healing, Flash and Greater heals, Renew and more. Shadow Priests are famous for their Shadow form which not only looks interesting it also gives a Shadow Priest more spell power.
As a Shadow Priest you will have a few dot spells which deal a nice amount of damage over time. Some of the spells the Shadow talent tree will provide the priest with make the priest a valuable team member for every group and raid because they restore mana and hitpoints to fellow players. Priests who are more into the PvP game play will definitely choose the Discipline tree. Because the discipline tree makes the priest a tough cookie with damage absorbing talents and nice new spells, it’s a nice choice.
Priests are also famous for their buffs: Power Word Fortitude, Spirit buff and Shadow Protection buff. They can also resurrect, dispel magic and disease, mass dispel, shackle undead, fear targets, mana burn etc. Threat plays an important role in WoW and luckily the Priests can fade when they get a bit too much agro to reduce their threat. When it comes to the armor, Priests are purely cloth wearers which means that their armor is solely made from cloth. A priest normally doesn’t have a lot of hitpoints unless he gets a lot of high tier PvP gear but they do however have a nice mana pool. If a Priest chooses to become Shadow, he will need to have a certain stats on his gear. You should aim for a lot of spirit, intellect, spell power, and hit and crit rating.
The same thing actually goes for healing priests but they do not need hit rating and could get some haste rating instead. One downside of a priest is leveling it because it takes quite a bit of time, even if you decide to level it as a Shadow priest. When you get the Shadow Form somewhere around level 40 it will all start to go a lot faster and at higher levels even if you choose to become a full healer be assured you will be needed in any instance group or a raid, since healers have always been a necessity in the World of Warcraft.
