Players who prefer violant combat should consider the Rogue when choosing a class. In fact Rogue is an excellent Melee DPS class, and well suited for this play style. The following WoW Rogue guide will introduce you to the Rogue’s unique talents.
Let me start by talking a little about the Rogue’s Strengths.
- High DPS: Meaning high damage per second, this really makes the Rogue dangerous in Melee.
- Stealth: This allows the Rogue to sneak up on enemies without being easily detected.
- Excellent at PvP: Rogue are fantastic when it comes to PvP. The Resilience attribute is really important among other gear you need to stay alive in this situation.
Now let’s turn our attention in the WoW Rogue guide to the Rogue’s weaknesses.
- Target in PvP: Their dangerous reputation can make them a primary PvP target.
- Damage Ratio: When you’re dual weilding the damage ratio of the off hand weapon is reduced.

You’ll have much more fun if you choose the right talent build based on your own playing styles. That’s exactly what we’ll look at next in the WoW Rogue Guide. All the talent builds of the Rogue belond to one of the categories below.
- Assassination: We talk about the Mutilate build.
- Combat: I’ll talk specifically about Combat Swords.
- Subtlety: Here we’ll look at the Subtlety build.
The Mutilate build is based on dagger and poison, which is absolutely essential. One weakness of this build is that the enemy may either be immune to the poison or have the ability to somehow heal from it. The list that follows is of some great skills to have for this particular build.
- Mutilate: Instant 2 handed attack
- Hunger for Blood: This causes you to become enraged and cause more damage.
- Improved Poison: This is an essential talent
- Master Poisoner: Increases critical chance of your attack by 3%
- Vile Poisoner: Increase damage of poison and Envenom ability
- Dual Wield Specialization: Another essential talent
For high, sustained DPS choose the Combat Swords build. It’s absolutely essential to have the Sinister Strike ability for this build. Here’s a list of other talents to have.
- Duel Wield Specialization
- Killing Spree
- Improved Slice and Dice
- Blade Flurry
- Blade Twisting
- Surprise Attacks
The Subtlety build takes advantage of the Rogue’s unique stealth abilities. A list of additional talents that are good to have is below.
- Honor Among Thieves
- Premeditation
- Preparation
- Sinister Calling
- Initiative
- Elusiveness
I won’t go any deeper in the WoW Rogue guide into leveling or the talents themselves but one thing to remember is that the talent builds lend themselves to your unique playing style so choose wisely.
