GAME. It’s all here!

The Sonic franchise was once the epitome of gaming, with the initial couple of games dominating the polls each time thanks to their vibrant, fun and accessable gaming. The arrival of new-gen  consoles and higher expectations resulted in Sega trying out fresh tricks with the tried and tested  system; introducing 3D terrains, on-the-rail games and more. In recent times, Sonic has  deviated even more so, with games recreating him as a knight, a werehog, and more. After years of  lamenting, followers of the classic will get their wishes addressed by the new release; Sonic 4: Episode 1.

Whilst some of the recent titles in the franchise have been excellent, Sonic 4: Episode 1 is said to be what  gamers have been waiting to be made for ages; with a return to to the classic gaming. In Sonic 4: Episode 1, Sonic brings back his side-scrolling escapades, with terrain vastly reminiscent of those viewed in the classic titles, like the Green Hill Zone. The surplus characters have been left at home too, even loyal  sidekick Tails missing from the game. Said to be the follow-on to Sonic & Knuckles, this title has Sonic strike out on his own for new adventures.

Without doubt, the present generation of consoles will provide Sonic 4: Episode 1 with attractive graphics.  Despite being a side-scroller, the character models have been rendered in 3D, resulting in a very polished finish. The colors are more vibrant than ever and the myriad terrain features we fondly remember,  together with the loops-the-loops, are nicely realised. This release also supports high-definition, so has the possibility to look even better.

This game will be released on Wiiware, PSN and Xbox live and as the title of the game infers, more adventures are to follow. Will these fun little offerings help carry Sonic back to the top? Only time will say. But for fans who loved the look and the feel of the classics, Sonic 4: Episode 1 is a brilliant return to the method.
