Rogue – The Shadowy Figure
by Henda2 on Oct.26, 2009, under General
Rogues can be chosen by players as their character in the World of Warcraft. A Rogue wields melee weapons and can dish out loads of damage by using special abilities. A Rogue has to spend Energy in order to make these attacks. The Energy meter of the Rogue can be found near the health bar of the Rogue and it shows you how much Energy you have. A Rogue can have a maximum of 100 Energy even though there is a talent which increases this.
A Rogue can be chosen by Dwarf, Gnome, Night Elf and Human players from the Alliance side and by Troll, Orc, Undead and Blood Elf players of the Horde side. A Rogue is commonly known for his skills to ‘gank’ other players, which basically means killing players of the other factions on either the battlegrounds or in the arena’s or in PvP areas. Because the Rogues can go stealth they can usually make a first move which gives them an edge in combat. When a Rogue is stealthed he has several abilities at his disposal which can only be used when stealthed and once he makes his move he will unstealth and get several new moves he can make. The majority of the attacks the Rogues can make award them with combo points. A total of 5 combo points can be applied on a target. Next to a series of attacks that award combo points a Rogue will also have several finishing moves available that will have an effect on their target depending on the amount of combo points that the target has. The more combo points you have, the stronger the finishing moves.
The Rogue, unlike other classes that can DPS as well, do not have any healing spells or do not have any real tanking capabilities. When you do decide to play a Rogue however you can top damage meters with a bit of dedications. If you want to be one of the major damage dealers in your guild it is possible. This means that you must know all the attacks, good talent trees, the best attack rotations, which gear you should chase, which professions you should level and more. To begin with it is good to know which talent trees are good for which purposes and which talents should be chosen and which can be skipped. The three talent trees are called combat, assassination, and subtlety. For more information on WoW class guides, read our review: Warcraft Pros Review
If you are leveling a Rogue you should choose the Combat talent tree. As a combat specced Rogue you will have an easier time leveling because you will get a decent amount of survivability while you will get several strikes like Ghost Strike that will increase your damage output. With a decent amount of Dodge and Parry rating, an increased amount of damage from the offhand which normally does 50% of the normal weapon damage, a higher hit percentage and a lot of other useful talents you will find leveling an easy journey.
The Assassination talent tree is usually preferred by players that have reached the level cap and start doing Dungeons and Heroics. With the Assassination talent tree you will be able to dish out great amount of damage with Backstab and other good attacks. For those of you who like to play PvE it is a great build that especially focuses on the Backstab attack. Because you need to be behind the target for this attack it is usually not good for single players.
If you have a tank that turns the mob away from you however, you can dish out crazy amounts of damage. Finally there is the Subtlety tree which is normally chosen by people that enjoy playing PvP. Because you will become quite tough, harder to detect while stealthed and be able to do nice amounts of damage in a short period of time, this build is nice against enemy players. If you play PvE you want to do more damage over time so Subtlety is less useful there.
